Sixth Year of Projects - Week 3

Week 3!!  I made some decent progress this past week.  I spent some time working on several projects and got some things accomplished.

Baby Blanket #2 (Bubbles Baby Blanket) - I frogged this one and restarted with a shorter foundation chain.

Before - I frogged my first attempt after deciding it was too wide.
I managed to get a fair bit done!

After - I am at about 9 or 10 inches now!
Baby Blanket #1 (Bouncy Ball Baby Blanket) - I made great progress on this one!!  I initially thought I would make 25 squares but once the 25 were done I thought I would increase the size to 36 squares - I thought I would have enough of the cream yarn...  BOOO I lost at yarn chicken while finishing the last round of the last square!!

So I started scrounging around to see if I had more yarn and thankfully I did!!  I got that last square done, got all the squares sewn together (I like to join squares like this using a simple whipstitch.  I like the way the fabric lays nice and flat and I like how there are no ridges at the joins.  I also find it quick and easy to do!), and then added a small border on the whole thing!  My first finish!!

Scrap-ghan - I added eight little mitered squares.

Tune in next week and see how much I get done!!  I doubt I will be as productive as this past week but who knows!!

  1. Oh boy are you fast! Great bouncy ball blanket. The first blanket project reminds me of my old baby blanket one of my mom's co-workers (I think) had hooked for me long ago. I still have it.

  3. I love how when those bouncy ball squares are sewn together you get a diamond pattern in the white part. I didn't expect that! Very nice.

  7. We've had some similar experiences even to the scheduled post that didn't! LOL! I love your projects and I am a blanket fiend. I can see that bouncy ball blanket using up scrap yarn too which I have a lot of (old acrylic). I also ran out of yarn on one but I'm back in business now. I think that's why we NEED to have multiple projects going...just in case! God forbid we run out of handwork. Your first blanket looks pretty also with a waffle type squares look to it. I've never seen that pattern and would love to give it a go myself. So many patterns...so little time! Every time I hear the word economics...I always remember the old "guns and butter" theory. I have a degree in computer science (back in the day when women didn't do that! For shame!) I'm retired now and out of the loop but I still love math. Enjoy your summer!

  9. Yarn chicken is sooooo nerve wracking! Glad you found some more to finish up. I failed at yarn chicken this week, but it was for a potholder for me, so no biggie.

    1. I would have resorted to buying more yarn (I know!!) but the finish would have been delayed!
