WIP-it Wednesday (February 15th 2012)

Here I am back for another WIP-it Wednesday report!  I currently have 8 WIPs and I am trying to get this number down!  Here they all are:

1) Mindless Sock Leftover Afghan  I started this project on August 31st 2010 and I am using up my sock weight leftovers.  It is about 12 inches long so far.  This will be a long term project and I don't expect to finish it up very soon.  Here is what it looks like now (notice the date the picture was taken - I have not worked on this for some time...)

2) Sojourn Falls I started this project on April 4th 2011.  This is another one that has been neglected for some time...  Again note the date this last progress picture was taken... I have 13 pattern repeats compete.

3) Spring Leaves I started this project on April 9th 2011.  And this is yet another project that has been sitting around waiting for me to work on it so more.  Once again note the date this picture was taken...

4) Natural Beauty Wrap This is one of my crochet projects. I started this on July 6th 2011 and I have done very little work on it.

5) Pine Forest Baby Afghan  I started this with a group of online friends and I am making decent progress on it.  I am currently just finished repeat 14.  I cast this on December 13th 2011.

6) Y is for "YTK Cable Socks"  These are the second last pair of socks for the 2011 Alphabet sock challenge.  I almost made it!!  I started these on December 16th 2011.
7) Z is for "Zigs and Zags Socks"  These are the final pair of socks for the alphabet Sock Challenge.  I cast these on December 28th 2011.

8) Striped Odyssey  This is another one of my crochet projects. I began this one with a group of online friends as well.

WIP-it Wednesday (December 21st 2011)

Another WIP-it Wednesday update!  I have been wokring my way through an alphabet of socks in 2011 (I'm following this KAL on Rav) and we are getting down to the end!  Right now I still have U, V, W, X, and Y cast on and in need of completion plus I need to cast on Z.  We have until January 14th 2012 to finish.  I'm not sure if I will make it!!

Here are some pictures:

WIP-it Wednesday (July 27th 2011)

Here we are for another WIP-it Wednesday update.  I have two updates to show today.  Both are socks (any surprise there??) and neither have a whole pile of progress to report  - a little progress but not much.

First up my L is for "Lacy Mock Cable Socks."  I am about half way down the heel turn on the first sock.  Here is the picture (and this is what it looked like on the last update):

Second up is my M is for "Mash-up Magic Toe-up Socks."  I have a few more inches complete now but still have a long way to go.  The two skeins of yarn still do not look anything alike even though the ball bands say they are the same.  They will make an interesting pair of socks one day!  Here is the picture (and this is what it looked like on the last update):

WIP-it Wednesday (July 6th 2011)

Here we are for another WIP-it Wednesday update!  I made some more squares (about twenty) for my ATW afghan but I didn't get too much done on this over the past week since it was too warm to think about sewing squares onto a big afghan in 80*F + weather...

I have however finished my I is for "I Shall Name them George" socks.  You can check back on FO Friday to see them :)

I have started making a wedding shawl for a good friend of mine.  She selected the Peacock Shawlette and I started it on Monday.  So far I have only done up four rows...  I plan to get some more done in the next few days.  It works from the bottom up so it starts with 273 stitches cast on and every other row it decreases by four stitches.  I will pick up speed as I move along!  Here is what it looks like now:

All scrunchy

The beginning of the pattern (not much to see yet!!)
And I have cast on two new pairs of socks...  I am still keeping up the pace (barely) at the A-Z Sock Challenge on Ravelry.  I cast on my L is for "Lacey Mock Cable Socks" a little while back and finally have a little bit to show now:

And I have also cast on my M is for "Mash-up Magic Toe-up Socks".  These are my very first two at a time toe-up socks (with a gusset heel).  I am using two circulars instead of magic loop.  The yarn is supposed to be the same but I couldn't locate a place where the two skeins looked alike when I cast on.  So fraternal twins they will be.  I am actually not that fussy about having my socks perfectly matched - too stressfull!  Anyway, here is my progress so far:

I have made no progress on my K is for "Knitmore Girls Vanilla Socks" but I am going to be travelling over the next week and they are coming with me to work on.  I have a five hour bus ride followed by airport waiting time, and then a two hour flight on Friday (and repeating to come home next Thursday) so I will get a lot done then!!

And on the weight loss front - I am down a total of 6.6 pounds :)

Wip-it Wednesday (June 15th 2011)

Another WIP-it Wednesday report!  I made some serious progress this past week on the three pair of socks I was working on.  Check out where I was last week and see what progress was made!  I worked on nothing but them all week!

First up are my I is for "I Shall Name Them George" socks.  I just turned the heel on the first sock last night and I am now working my way up the leg.  I am thinking I am not too fond of short row heels.  I like they way they feel on my foot but they are not easy for me to do...  Maybe more practice will help!

Next up are my J is for "Julie's Soft Socks".  I finished the first sock and am only a few rows away from starting the heel flap on the second sock!  This is in a heavier yarn so it moves along quicker.  Someone asked last week what yarn I used - it is something called Gala Spider - a polyester nylon mix made in Turkey.  I got a bunch of this stuff for $0.99 a skein!

Finally here is my progress on my K is for "Knitmore Girls Vanilla Socks"  I have turned the heel and am working my way down the gusset on the first sock.

Over the next week I am going to focus on my Around the World quilt-ghan I am making for a friend.

And my weight loss - I am down a total of three pounds.  I lost the weight I gained while I was away and am back on track now!

WIP-it Wednesday (June 8th 2011)

Another WIP-it Wednesday day is upon us!!  I really don't have too much to report from the past week.  I did finish my H is for "Hug Me" socks (I'll post about that for FO Friday) and I did a little bit on my I is for "I Shall Name them George" socks.  I have also cast on my J is for "Julie's Soft Socks" and K is for "Knitmore Girls Vanilla Socks"

Here are a couple pictures:

WIP it Wednesday

I have three projects that are partly done right now.  First up are my E is for "Express" socks - my next pair in the alphabet sock series.  I actually night get these done before it's time to start the next pair on Saturday!! Here is the progress picture:
E is for Express Lane

The second project is my 12 Days of Christmas Afghan.  Each month I make one square and add it to the rest so that by Christmas I will have a complete afghan :)  This month: three french hens (not the turtle doves as I originally posted...):

The third project is a LONG lasting ongoing project.  I started making all the squares from Barbara Walker's Learn to Knit Afghan book.  I began this a few years ago and am currently up to square 47 (out of 64).  Maybe this project will be done by the end of 2011...  Here is my progress on square number 47:

Another pair of socks complete :)

I have finally finished my B is for "Be Mine" socks!!  These took me a long time to make.  They were my first attempt at doing socks two at a time and my first attempt at using magic loop.  Add to that a relatively difficult pattern (cables and such) it took me forever to complete.  But finally here they are (and I LOVE them!!!)

Cast On: January 19th 2011
Cast Off: March 4th 2011
Pattern: Be Mine from 2-at-a-time socks  that the hubby gave me the book for Christmas!
Yarn: Louet Gems
Needle: Addi 2.5mm 40 inch (trying two at a time and magic loop)

Got myself a darn cold...

So I have managed to get myself a cold.  When I breathe through my nose I sound like Darth Vader!  Oh well, lots of rest and I hope to get over this soon.

I managed to finish my first of my D socks:

And I am getting back to working on my B socks.  I have got the gusset started now!  This is the first time I have done two at a time and magic loop - maybe trying two new techniques at the same time was not the most clever plan!  I will get these darn socks done!!

Spring Break (early)

So the University is winding down for spring break (begins at 5pm Friday) but since my classess and office hours were done by noon today - my break begins early :)  Actually I only plan to take a few days of down time and then I need to focus on getting some writing done and some articles submitted.  Monday morning I will head back to the office and focus on research without the distraction of teaching and students for two whole weeks!

I am still slowly working on the border of the baby tree afghan.  I hope to get a few hours in on that this afternoon.  And I have a bunch of tails to tuck in...  A bunch as you can see...

In other crafty stuff I need to get back to my socks once this afghan is done.  I joined along with a challenge on Ravelry (Year Long A-Z KAL) to make 26 pair of socks in 2011!  I must be mad!  We are allowed to begin one new pair corresponding to a new letter of the alphabet each two week period.  So far I have completed my A and C socks, am ready to start the gusset on both B socks, and have cast on D.  I need to be ready to cast on E beginning this weekend!  I somehow doubt I will be able to keep up the pace for the entire year, but worst case scenario is that I have several new pair of socks :)  It's all good!

Here is my progress on my B socks:

B is for "Be Mine"
