Q is for Quilt-ghans

Q is for (Crochet) Quilt-ghans.  I love making these!!  The basic idea is to crochet little mini two round granny squares and join the squares together in quilt patterns.  My two favorites (or actually the only two I have made - each multiple times) are Around the World and the Baby Nine Block.  These each involve a LOT of little squares!  To date I have made 5 Around the World quilt-ghans (two double size, two queen size, and one king size). one queen size Nine Block, and 6 or 7 Baby Nine Blocks.  I won't count how many squares that creates - but it would be well into the thousands!  I made my first one in 2008 and have not made one in a few years now.  I think it may be time to make a few baby blankets to have on hand for gifts!!

Here are some examples:

WIP-it Wednesday (June 22nd 2011)

So this past week I devoted the majority of my crafting time to the Around the World (ATW) quiltqhan I am making for a friend.  At the beginning of this past week I had 361 squares sewn together and 31 squares made and ready to sew on.  This is what it looked like last Wednesday:
ATW progress as of Wednesday June 15th 2011 (before)
I crocheted a total of 139 squares (35 of those still need to be sewn on) and the total number of squares sewn together is now 514.  And this is what it looks like now:

And my weight loss - I am down a total of 4.4 pounds.  Slowly but steadily!

Relax!

Good morning!  I slept in this morning and I have plans to do nothing much but crochet and sew squares together all day long!  Maybe watch some TV and a movie along the way.  I have been too busy this past while and am ready to have a quiet day!!  I am going to work on my Around the World quilt-ghan.  I have quite a few squares to sew onto the blanket and need to make a bunch more. Her is what I have lined up for today:

Wip-it Wednesday (May 18th 2011)

I haven't posted a WIP-it Wednesday update lately and thought it was time.

My current project that I need to focus on now is my Around the World afghan that I am making for a friend to give his wife for her birthday in the beginning of August.  I have made quite a bit of progress on it but it still needs a lot of work (and I would like to get more done now while it is cooler than in July...)  Right now I estimate that I am about 25% complete!  Currently I have 281 squares sewn together, 32 squares waiting to be sewn on, and 912 squares left to be crocheted and sewn on!

Here is the picture of where I am now:
Soon it is going to get more difficult to get pictures of this!  This is on a double size bed and is being made for a queen size bed.

WIP-it Week - Saturday

I got a lot done on my Around the World yesterday.  I added 37 squares to the afghan and I made 31 squares.  I need to pick it up on this afghan as it needs to be finished by late July.
Today I plan to work on my socks and also will continue with the Around the World. This past week has been great for getting a lot done on all my WIPs!! Now I think I will focus mostly on the Around the World so that I can get it done before it gets too warm out!

I also think I will tackle organizing my craft bookshelf today!  I'll post some before and after pictures once I get that done!
