Eighth Year of Projects - Week 26

We have reached the half way point on our Year of Projects!!  I suspect it is time to revisit my list and see if I am anywhere near what I originally planned or if I have ventured way off track!  Maybe I will redo my list!

This has been quite a productive week!!

1.  I have finished the design I was working on last week and it is set for publication in the near future.  I am allowed to show pictures of the design before publication, but am not allowed ot share the pattern.  Here is what the finished socks look like:

2. I have caught up on my Advent Scarf again!  This includes progress from December 13th through December 22nd!  Only a few more days to go and we are all done with this.  Next week I should be able to show you the finished and blocked item!!

3. I have picked up my Rowe Cardigan again and managed to get some work done on the two front panels.  This will be my focus project once I am done with my Advent scarf and Christmas knitting is done.  I would love to have this complete before 2019 arrives!  My progress is from the blue marker.

4.  I have one last minute cast on to report...  I decided to make a last minute Christmas gift.  It is the Boyfriend Hat and it is knitting up very quickly!  I have about four inches done and need about six before the decreasing.  I hope to finish it up today, but still have tomorrow as well!

I posted a new podcast yesterday where I talk about each of these four projects.

Until next week everyone!!  Have a very Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you happen to celebrate) and I will see you again soon!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 25

Welcome back to another week of my Eighth Year of Projects!!

This week I have focused on two projects: my Advent Scarf and a new design.

My Advent Scarf has seen some progress but I am falling behind schedule a little bit!  I have completed the clues to the end of December 12th.  I plan to get onto that again later today or tomorrow and will soon be caught up again!  Here is what it looks like now (my progress this week is from the orange marker and each of the other markers shows the end of each day's clue)

I have spent the past few days working on a design that will soon be published!  The deadline is today!  I need to finish up the knitting (almost done!), fine tune the written pattern, and get some pictures of the finished object!  Here is a (poor quality) picture for you to see - I'll be able to post better pictures later!

I won two lots on an online auction earlier this week!  I won an antique J. Farnham spinning wheel!!  It needs a bit of TLC but is is wonderful condition considering it's age (likely from the early to mid 1800s!)  and it should be up and running fairly easily (I hope).

I also won a few other random items which include several vintage (maybe antique?) items.  I have posted a couple videos about everything I won if you want to go check it out!

And I have been keeping up with Vlogmas!  Please feel free to check out my playlist with all my vlogs.

I also have posted a new podcast - episode 14!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 22

Today is Week 22 of the Eighth Year of Projects, NaBloPoMo Day 25, and Day 11 of my self imposed WIP-it Down Week!

I have had a very productive week!  I have worked on each and every WIP over the past eleven days of my WIP-it Down Week and I am sad that the week is nearly over (and that I need to go back to work on Monday).  Oh well, the Christmas break is not far off now!

My Sock Scrap-ghan looks the same as it did last week so I won't bother showing an update picture :)

I made progress on my Vanilla Christmas socks - I have finished the gusset decreasing and am moving down the foot now.  Here is where I am:

I made progress on my new sock design too.  I had the cuff done some time ago and now have added two repeats on the leg.  I am considering whether to add one more repeat or not.  I am leaning towards adding it...  Here is where I am now:

I worked on my Rowe Cardigan and have finished the ribbing on both the front pieces.  I am knitting these two at a time to make sure they are both nice and even.  Next up I need to get moving up the cable portion!

And I worked on my Texture Time Shawl.  I am still a long way from being close to finished this.  I am not even half way done yet, but I am still enjoying the knit!

I also cast on two new projects this week.  I know - I was on a WIP-it Down mission, but...

New cast on number 1 - the Advent 2018 Scarf.  I knit the initial ribbing and the daily clues began to appear yesterday.  I am working on Day 2 right now.  here is a picture of what it looked like at the end of Day 1:  (the markers will show the end of each daily clue)

New cast on number 2 - the Julenatt Mittens (a Mystery Mitten KAL by Skeindeer Knits).  The first clue for these came out on November 21st and the second clue came out yesterday.  I am still working on Clue #1 on mitten #1.  Here is what they look like now:

And finally I posted my newest podcast early this morning.

Over the next week I plan to try to keep up with my two new KALs.  I also have bought some fabric and I want to try to sew myself a couple of project bags!  Hopefully I will have those to show you next week!

Until then...

WIP-it Down Week Thanksgiving 2018 - Day 6

Welcome to another day of my self imposed WIP-it Down Week!

Yesterday I managed to get a goodly amount done on my new sock design!  I am nearly finished the leg!  I am contemplating where the best round is to transition into the heel flap and I may have another 4 rounds to go before I am ready for that.  I'll mull it over until it is time to pick up the socks again for their second day during WIP-it Down Week!  Anyway, here is what it looks like now:

Today I plan to work on the two front pieces on my Rowe Cardigan.  I may also cast on and do the ribbing on my Advent 2018 scarf but I will see.  If I finish the ribbing early then I will get moving on the scarf and will come back to the Rowe Cardigan after I have finished the ribbing. Or at least that is my plan so far this morning!  The hubby and I may run out to do a bit of shopping today also.  If we do that it will eat into my knitting time...  What a tough life :)

WIP-it Down Week Thanksgiving 2018 - Day 5

Back for another WIP-it Down day!  Today I am going to spend all my knitting time working on my sock design.  When I last worked on this I left off after four rounds beyond the cuff - so basically not much was done...  Here is a picture of where I was at the beginning of the day - here is hoping for a decent amount of progress!

Yesterday I got a good amount of work done on my Vanilla Christmas socks.  I picked up all the gusset stitches on both socks and managed to get all the way to the end of all the gusset decreases before I turned in for the day.  Not to continue along the feet, although with a size ten foot that takes a little while...  Here is what the socks look like now:

Until tomorrow everyone!!  I think tomorrow has my Rowe Cardigan as my project of the day!  Looking forward to working on the two front panels!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 17

Here we are back for another week!  I have managed to get a fair bit of knitting in this week even though I have been quite busy at work.

I only managed to add a few rounds on my Sockhead Slouch Hat.  I am beginning to think I may be getting closer to finished with this one!  My progress from last week is from the blue marker.

I made a great deal of progress on my Texture Time Shawl even though I am still working on Clue #1.  I am getting close to complete with this clue.  I really don't think I will finish this in October!  Oh well!  My progress is from the pink marker!

I released a new pattern on Ravelry - the first one in quite some time!  It is called Staggered Tracks and here is a picture of it:

And I have posted Episode 6 on my podcast!

Seventh Year of Projects - Week 49

We are getting so close to the end of the Seventh Year of Projects!!  I am thrilled at how well I have kept up this year!  And I am getting excited for next year!

This past week I finished my Vanilla Socks.

I spent some time on my new design but I am sorry to say you will have to wait some time to see what I am working on.  I promise to show it off once I can!

I worked up a few pet snuggles - 5 to be exact.  The top three were done in May and the bottom two were done in June.  These crochet up pretty quickly and are a nice change of pace (and work my hands differently) from knitting!  I have a couple ends to weave in yet but that won't take much time at all.

And I broke down and cast on something new...  I signed up for Tour-de-Sock again this year and they released the Warm Up pattern on Friday.  I like it and decided to give it a go!  So far I have one and a half cuffs done.  Once the cuffs are done the color work begins!  I am using a darker burgundy to go along with this pink speckled!

I suspect this upcoming week will have me focusing on my Tour socks and my secret design.  Come back next week and see my progress

Seventh Year of Projects - Week 48

Back for another week.  I can hardly believe this year of projects is nearly over!  And I can also hardly believe that I have kept up for almost the entire year!

I have spent my week on socks!  I finished my Sock Madness Round 4 socks.  I was not fast enough to qualify for the next round but I am happy to have these done ♥  Here they are (there are more pictures on my Ravely project page - link above):

And I spent some time on my Vanilla Socks.  These are almost ready for the toes and I imagine I will have them ready as a finish next Sunday.  My progress this week is from the marker.  Here they are:

And finally I have found my designing mojo again!!  I am working on a new sock design but I cannot share pictures because I want to submit it somewhere and secrecy is important.  If my submission is unsuccessful I will be able to show it off in the early autumn.  So far I have knit the cuff and am working on creating the charts before I dive into the leg.  Sorry no pictures...

Well I best run!  Time to go shower and get ready for church and then we are heading out for lunch and to do some shopping.  This evening we plan to finally get some more of our artwork hung in the apartment - no hurry - we have been here for nearly a year!!  Until next week!!

New Designs!

Finally I am back to posting something on my blog!  It was been far too long since I posted anything!  I keep threatening to do this on a more regular basis but we see how that has worked :)  Maybe this time I will get back into a rhythm of regular posting.

The school year is all done and I have had a bit of time to relax and unwind.  Now I have shifted into gear and am getting things done!  This past week has been quite productive for me! I had two sock designs that I finished the sample, pattern writing, and testing many months ago (like in the fall - October and November!) but then never got around to doing the edits and publishing the patterns.  I finally got that done this past week!!  Both patterns are getting a lot of love on Ravelry and I have sold several patterns :)  YAY!!  I am counting these as finished objects now!!

Broken Glass

Masculine Socks
I also had two designs that I had knit up the sample (again one was completed in early November and the other one in December) but I had not got around to do any more work on those.  I have now got the two patterns written up and have the first one out for testing.  I will get the second one out for testing on Sunday afternoon.  I will be without reliable internet for the rest of the weekend (beginning around lunch time today) until Sunday afternoon so I thought is best to hold off on the second test until I can more easily answer any questions.  These two also count as finished objects (mostly!!)

Churro is now being tested

Inner Peace will be up for testing Sunday afternoon
And I have ideas for several more sock designs that I want to get started on!  But first I really should get a few of my needles freed up!  I have two partially complete Sock Madness 11 socks to finish (well three actually, but I want to focus on two first and will get to the third pair once those are done).  I hope to make some serious progress on these this weekend!!  I'll report back next week with how I managed!  Hopefully I can report two more FOs next Friday!

Invitation to the Dance - one sock complete and the second is part way through the gusset decreasing.

Symphony Socks - both have gusset stitches picked up and one has a couple rounds of decreases done.

Let's see where I am next week!

NaBloPoMo 2016 Day 7

I managed to get a bit of knitting done on my newest sock design and I am happily decreasing for the toe now - which means the end is getting very close!!  I just ran out of steam to continue knitting last night  I may get it done later today or tomorrow for certain!  Once the knitting is done I need to get the pattern notes translated into a written pattern so that I can get it out for testing.  It does look like I will get this pattern released in 2016!!  YAY!

NaBloPoMo 2016 Day 6

Sixth Year of Projects - Week 19:  It's been a while since I posted...  I have been busy with school and keeping up with teaching and grading, but have also managed to get some crafting done (not a lot, but some!)
1) Coffee Cantata (Sock Madness 10 Round 6 socks) - Zero progress here.  I have not touched these in over a month or longer!!  I might frog these as I am just not feeling the love.

2) Celtic Myths Shawl - this is coming along nicely,  I have added several repeats on the edging and it is coming along nicely.  I have spent a bit of my spare time on this one the past couple weeks.

3) Sock scrap-ghan - I have added a few more little squares to this project. I have 89 squares now and am still a long way fro being done!

4) Scrappie - I cast this on in the beginning of October and have not worked on it much in the past several weeks.  I need to get back to it and get it done - it is a fun pattern and great for using up scraps!

5) And I have been working on a new sock design.  It is getting closer to completion and will hopefully be ready for testing in the next couple weeks!

NaBloPoMo 2016 Day 3

So far so good posting every day!!  HAHA and it is only Day 3!  Today I want to show off a few new knit designs I am currently working on.  I have two sock designs currently being tested and hope to have them released for sale later in November.  I have one more sock design that is partially done.  I need to finish knitting the foot and then will have to get the pattern written up based on my notes I have been taking while knitting.  Once the sample is complete and the pattern is written I will be opening up the testing for it.  I hope to have the testing begin by late November and hope to have the pattern released before the end of December.

Here are the two masculine designs being tested currently:

And here is a progress picture of the design in progress:

R is for my Ravelry Shop

R is for my Ravelry Shop.  Other than my Around the World Quilt-ghan which was published in December 2008, I put my first pattern up for sale on Ravelry in September 2013.  I have not released anything since December 2015 - this must be remedied!!  I have four designs that are nearly ready to go - I just need to do some editing on the patterns and publish them - they have already been test knit!  So, I have published a total of 47 patterns so far - 3 hat patterns, 15 sock patterns, 24 cowl designs, 1 stole, 2 afghans, and two headbands.  Three of the designs are crochet and the rest are all knit design!  I am no where near being able to quit my day job, but this does earn me a few dollars a month that allows me to buy more yarn to knit or crochet with - a win-win situation!!  I have found that the more patterns I have available, the more regular my sales are.  I have not done any paid promotions on Ravelry yet, but I am thinking about it - maybe once my Four Seasons Sock e-book is ready to go or maybe once I have finished all my Herding Cats designs and have that -book ready.
