Eighth Year of Projects - Weeks 27 and 28

Happy New Year everyone!!  I missed last week (first time I have missed a week in some time!  Maybe even the first missed week in YoP 8!!).  Anyway, life was busy and I just did not get around to posting.

I have a couple finishes  from the last time I posted and I have significant progress on one other project!

1) I finished the Boyfriend Hat for my husband's Christmas gift.  He loves it and it fits him well.  And I can't figure out how to rotate this.  It looks right in the file and turns on it's side when I move it here...

2) I finished knitting my Advent Scarf 2018!  I actually finished the knitting on Christmas Eve!  I still have to block it and hope to get that done soon!  I don't really have a good picture of this one yet...

3) I have made significant progress on my Rowe Cardigan!  I have finished the front pieces and have sewn everything together.  I am currently working on the ribbing that goes all the way around the front of the garment (up the right front, across the back of the neck, and back down the left front).  This involves a TON of stitches!!  I have 430 stitches all the way along the piece and it is to be knit in 2x2 ribbing for 8 inches!  I have ten rows complete and estimate I need at least 45 rows to reach 8 inches.  This is my focus project right now and I plan to not work on anything but this until it is complete!!  It is impossible to get a decent picture of this since the stitches are all bunched up on the cable but here it is in a plastic tub:

One of my New Year's resolutions is to knit a bit more monogamously.  I am finding that this suits my style the best.  Even though I love casting on new projects, I find that I only tend to work on a few at a time and the rest languish.  I am planning to keep my number of WIPs to a minimum during 2019!

I posted a new podcast earlier this week and will be posting an update in time for next weeks update here.

Until next week!

WIP-it Down Week Thanksgiving 2018 - Day 3

Oops!  I am quite late today!!  It has been a very busy day here!  This morning I taped my podcast and it is currently uploading to YouTube as I type this up (it will be live in about an hour or so).  I spent some time also editing the video this morning so that it could have plenty of time for exporting while I was out in the afternoon.  In the afternoon we (or church) participated in the local Christmas Parade here in town.  We met up and got out little float into position about noon and the parade began at 2pm.  It took us nearly an hour to walk from where we were initially stationed to the beginning of the parade...  Then another 45 minutes to walk to the end of the parade route...  I got some exercise today but not much knitting.  Oh well.

Yesterday I got a goodly bit of work done on my Sock Scrap-ghan.  I managed to tuck in a bunch of tails, I sorted out all my little sock yarn balls into used and unused (what has already been added into my blankie and what still needs to be added), and I added a whopping two little squares to the thing.  I was hoping to have done more, but it is progress and I am happy with that!

Today I had hoped to work on my Texture Time Shawl, but it is already 7:40pm and I am bushed.  I think I may just call today a bust knitting wise!

Last night we went to see the tree lighting thingy in town and it was fun. The tree in town looks wonderful!  Here is a picture of me and the hubby (I'm wearing my Sockhead Slouch Hat):

Until tomorrow!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 18

Hello and welcome back for another week of the Year of Projects!!  I have had a busy week with both work and knitting!  I finished Clue #1 and have a finished object to show off!  And I am ready to cast on a new project (I can't wait...)

First up my finished object!  I finished my Sockhead Slouch Hat!!  It is huge and I love it!  I describe it more in my podcast which I will link below.  Here is a picture of me wearing it:

And I finished Clue #1 on the Texture Time Shawl!  All of the clues have been released now and I am slowly plugging along!  I also got a bit of a start on Clue #2.  Here is where I am at now and the little pink marker shows where I left off last week:

And I am casting on a pair of Christmas socks.  These will be vanilla socks and I am using one of the holiday color ways that I dyed up a little while back.  I will knit each cuff and then I plan to join them and work the remainder two at a time.  Here is my progress (hehe - I just cast these on earlier this morning before I posted this blog and only have two rounds done!):

And I have been continuing with Vlogtober!  I have posted a video every day throughout the month of October!  I have only four more videos to go (actually three - today's video is uploading to YouTube as I type this).  I have really enjoyed filming and posting something every day, but I will be happy for a more laid back schedule once November rolls around!  Wait - how is it already nearly November?!

And I posted Episode 7 of my podcast last night!  I am still loving doing the podcast and only wish I had started sooner.  Here is a link to this week's video where I show you my finished Sockhead Slouch Hat!

Take care everyone and I'll see you again soon!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 16

Welcome to another weekly update!!  I hope you all have had an amazing week!  I have kept busy with knitting and work.  Here is what I did this past week:

One of these weeks I will finish the sleeves on my Rowe Cardigan!  This past week I did make a fair bit of progress, but still have a little ways to go.  I have finished the sleeve increasing and now am working on the shoulder cap decreases.  I think I have about 25 or 30 rows left to go and the sleeves are complete.  Maybe by next week??  My progress from last week is shown from the little green marker on the sleeve here:

And I made a little progress on my Sockhead Slouch Hat!  I have rolled the cake into a ball since it was getting pretty disheveled from being my travel project.  I have added maybe two more inches to the hat and hope to have this one done one of the days soon!  Here is my progress:

Spoiler Alert!!  I you are slower than me on the Texture Time Mystery Shaw do not continue to read because I will be posting a progress picture a bit lower down here.

And I finally cast on my Texture Time Mystery Shawl!  I got a start once and messed up so I frogged it.  Now I am still working on Clue #1 and Clue #2 was released a few days ago.  I suspect I won't catch up...  Oh well, I plan to continue and hope to finish Clue #1 before Clue #3 comes out!  Maybe I will even have some progress on Clue #2 before I show you next week.  I am thinking I may regret this cast on while I look at all the ends!!  We have been told we will deal with them later so I guess I have to be patient!  Here is where I am now (I am about 1/3 to 1/2 way done Clue #1):

And I have Episode 5 posted on my podcast!!

And I have been keeping up with Vlogtober and now have 13 posts!!  Check out my playlist!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 15

Hello for another week!  I hope everyone had a nice week and got lots of crafting done!

I had a fairly productive week, although work took up quite a bit of my time!  I managed to get a few more rows done on the sleeves of my Rowe Cardigan.  I had honestly hoped to finish the sleeves this past week, but didn't...  Oh well, maybe this week I will get them done!  Here is my progress - from the green marker up:

And I made some progress on my Sockhead Slouch Hat.  I moved on to the next color now.  I need to practice dying gradient yarns - this isn't really a "gradient".  Oh well, I still love the colors!  My progress from last week is from the blue marker.

And I got my yarn all dyed up for the Texture Time Mystery Shawl.  The first clue was released a few days ago but I have not cast it one yet.  Maybe I'll do that this afternoon.  Here is the yarn I dyed (the pattern also includes a fluffy yarn, but I forgot to take a picture including that...

I posted my latest podcast yesterday:

And I have posted each day so far in October for Vlogtober!!  If you have not had a chance why not check them out??  They are each less than ten minutes long and this morning's vlog includes alpaca butts!

Time to get moving here!  Have an amazing week!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 14

And another week has flown by!  It seems that time is flying by so quickly!!  This has been a productive week for work and crafting!

I spent some time on my Sockhead Slouch Hat and made some decent progress!  I am enjoying this mindless knit!  Here is what it looks like now - pretty much the same but longer.  I am anxious to see the next color appear!  The blue marker shows where I was last week.

And I got a lot of work done on the sleeves of my Rowe Cardigan!  I have only about 30 rows to go on the increases and maybe an inch after that to get it to the proper length!  I am really hoping to have the sleeves done to show you next week!!  Here is what the sleeves look like now - I left off last week where the stitch markers are.

And I posted Episode 3 of my podcast last night!  I am having so much fun creating my podcasts!  I wish I had started doing it sooner.  I am also planning to attempt Vlogtober where I will post a short vlog every day during the month of October.  That will be a challenge, but one that I am excited to attempt.  It will be about my daily activities plus my knitting and other crafting.  Should be fun!!

Well, another week has come and gone.  Looking forward to seeing everyone here next week!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 13

Welcome to another weekly update!!

This week I managed to finish my Bicycle Race socks and they are gorgeous (if I must say so myself!).  I enjoyed this knit!

I also got some more work done on my Sockhead Slouch Hat and made some decent progress.  I finished off the brim and got some of the plain stockinette done.  I plan to work on this some more in the upcoming week when I need something mindless to knit.  Here is what it looks like now:

And I have some progress to show on my Rowe cardigan.  I am finally back to working on this.  I started figuring out what more needed doing on the back and discovered that I needed a whole four rows of shoulder shaping to finish it up...  If I had know that I likely would have finished the back ages ago!  Oh well.  The back is now complete and some of the stitches are sitting on a cable until it is time to finish.

I also got going on the sleeves too.  I cast on the sleeves.  I decided to do them two at a time so that I can make sure my increasing and shaping matches and so that once I am done knitting them they are both complete - no issues with having to cast on the second sleeve and do it all over again!  Right now I have about 2.5 inches of the four needed for the cuffs.  Here is my progress:

And I uploaded Episode 2 of my podcast last night!!  Thanks for your support ♥  Here is the link to episode 2 (don't worry, this episode is only about a half hour - not as long as last week!):

See you next week!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 12

Back for another update!!

I was hoping that I would have finished my Bicycle Race socks by today, but I didn't quite make it.  I did make some serious progress, but not enough.  Maybe for next week!  My progress from the last time I posted is from the blue markers!  Here is where they are now:

I spent some time working on my Sockhead Slouch Hat and have made some great progress.  I am getting into the next color from the gradient and am excited to see what it looks like after a bit more is done on it.  I am also almost ready to switch to the plain stockinette portion.  I have maybe a half inch to an inch left to do of the ribbing.  Here is what it is looking like:

And I started a podcast yesterday!!  I have been mulling over doing this for some time now and finally took the plunge!  Come on over and take a look when you have a moment!  Like and subscribe if you enjoyed it!  I am hoping to post a new video every week (or every two weeks if life is too busy) and am aiming for something between 30-60 minutes.  It is mostly about knitting! Here is a link:

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 11

Here we are with another week flown past!!  This week has been busy at work and I am beginning to suspect that this is my new "normal"...  Oh well, the money is helpful in keeping me in the lifestyle I have become accustomed to!

This past week I have been monogamous and in being so I have finished my Flibbertigibbet socks!!  I love them!!

And I am ready to cast on something new.  I have only three WIPs!! and they are each not good for travel and knitting away from home, so I need something mindless (and I don't feel for a pair of vanilla socks at the moment!).  So I have a skein of yarn that I played around with and dyed into a long, gradual gradient that I will be using to make myself a Sockhead Slouch Hat.  I plan to start with the darker and finish it at the crown with the lighter shade.  I plan to make the slouch as long as necessary to use up most of the yarn!

This upcoming week I plan to work on my Sockhead hat when I am away from home (and have time to knit while away...) and I also plan to get some more work done on my other pair of cabled socks from Tour-de-Sock.  I worked a few rounds on those yesterday, but not enough to be able to see a difference from the last time I posted pictures.
