Tenth Year of Projects - Week 21

Another week!  A finished object and some progress to show on another project.

Finished Object:
1) Tegna - this sweater is (basically) finished!!!  I got going on the sleeves again this past week and finished them off!  I love the fit of this sweater!  I still need to block it so I will show you another picture next week.  But I am so happy to have it all finished!

Ongoing works in progress:
1) Slipstravaganza - this is a mystery shawl knit along by Stephen West.  The clues come out every Friday and I cast  this on on October 9th.  I am moving along on Clue #4 now!  The rows are LONG and it might take a few weeks to finish off the last clue (over 900 stitches per row and I have completed 19 out of 49 rows...)  I managed to add 11 rows this weeks so that is pretty good considering the number of stitches that is!!  I won't show any pictures of the shawl here because I don't want to spoil the surprise/mystery for anyone, but I do show it in my podcast if you are curious (and there are some pictures on my Ravelry project page).

I just posted a new video on Saturday in case you want to check it out!  I would be so happy if you subscribed to my little channel ♥

I am also doing a WIP-it Down Week since I am on our Thanksgiving Break from university.  I am filming (relatively) short vlog style videos documenting my progress in case you want to check those out as well!

Tenth Year of Projects - Week 5

This week has given me a finished object and a lot of progress on my other two projects!

Finished Object:
1) Stillness Shawl MKAL - this was a mystery knit along by Helen Stewart that I cast on June 25th 2020. I finished the knitting on July 27th (and also tucked in all the tails) and got it blocked on the 31st.  I can now safely show it off since the mystery has now been lifted.  I love this shawl!!

Ongoing works in progress:
1) Sock Scrap-ghan - I managed to add 12 more squares to my scrap wrap!  I now need to add 74 more squares to get this to completion. Here is an updated picture (the stitch markers - if you can see them - are the squares I added in the past week.

2)
Tegna - this is a summer sweater by Caitlin Hunter.  I cast this on June 28th and am making decent progress on it.  I have added another inch of stockinette this week (no progress picture this week as it does not look much different from last week).  It is still a long way from completion, but I am making progress!

I also spend some time showing my progress on my projects on my podcast.  I just posted a new video on Saturday in case you want to check it out!  I would be so happy if you subscribed to my little channel ♥

Tenth Year of Projects - Week 4

This week has given me a lot of progress on my projects!  This is thanks to many hours of Zoom meetings - still...

Ongoing works in progress:
1) Sock Scrap-ghan - I managed to add 7 squares to my scrap wrap - I think this is the new nickname for this project - it kind of popped out in my podcast... and I love the name!  I now need to add 86 more squares to get this to completion.

2) Stillness Shawl MKAL - this is a mystery knit along by Helen Stewart that I cast on June 25th 2020.  We get one clue each Thursday in July.  This past week gave us Clue #5 - the final clue - and I am am almost done!  I won't post pictures here as it is still a mystery.  I have shown it in detail on my podcast (linked below) so if you wish to see it please take a peek.

3) Tegna - this is a summer sweater by Caitlin Hunter.  I cast this on June 28th and am making decent progress on it.  I have added another two inches of stockinette this week (progress is from the stitch marker upwards)!  It is still a long way from completion, but I am making progress!

I also spend some time showing my progress on my projects on my podcast.  I just posted a new video on Saturday in case you want to check it out!  And I am having a little give away over there!  I would be so happy if you subscribed to my little channel ♥

Tenth Year of Projects - Week 3

This week has given me a lot of progress on my projects!  This is thanks to many hours of Zoom meetings and virtual conferences - I have to find the positive in these meetings!!

Ongoing works in progress:
1) Sock Scrap-ghan - I managed to add 15 squares to my scrap wrap - I think this is the new nickname for this project - it kind of popped out in my podcast... and I love the name!  I now need to add 93 more squares to get this to completion.

2) Stillness Shawl MKAL - this is a mystery knit along by Helen Stewart that I cast on June 25th 2020.  We get one clue each Thursday in July.  This past week gave us Clue #4 and I got that done already!  I won't post pictures here as it is still a mystery.  I have shown it in detail on my podcast (linked below) so if you wish to see it please take a peek.

3) Tegna - this is a summer sweater that is by Caitlin Hunter.  I cast this on June 28th and am making decent progress on it.  I have added about three inches of stockinette now!  It is still a long way from completion, but I am making progress!

I also spend some time showing my progress on my projects on my podcast.  I just posted a new video on Saturday in case you want to check it out!  I would be so happy if you subscribed to my little channel ♥

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 30

I'm running a little late today...  But I have a finished object to share with you!!  My Rowe Cardigan is all done!  I love it!

And this picture really sums up how I feel about it:

Once I was finished with Rowe I turned to my Texture Time Shawl and have made some progress on that!  I hope to get this one finished in the next couple weeks!  Then I will cast on something new as a reward :) My progress here is from the orange marker out towards the pink (it is easier to see in the second picture)

And I have a new episode of my podcast up on YouTube.  I show off my Rowe Cardigan in more detail there.

See you all next week!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 22

Today is Week 22 of the Eighth Year of Projects, NaBloPoMo Day 25, and Day 11 of my self imposed WIP-it Down Week!

I have had a very productive week!  I have worked on each and every WIP over the past eleven days of my WIP-it Down Week and I am sad that the week is nearly over (and that I need to go back to work on Monday).  Oh well, the Christmas break is not far off now!

My Sock Scrap-ghan looks the same as it did last week so I won't bother showing an update picture :)

I made progress on my Vanilla Christmas socks - I have finished the gusset decreasing and am moving down the foot now.  Here is where I am:

I made progress on my new sock design too.  I had the cuff done some time ago and now have added two repeats on the leg.  I am considering whether to add one more repeat or not.  I am leaning towards adding it...  Here is where I am now:

I worked on my Rowe Cardigan and have finished the ribbing on both the front pieces.  I am knitting these two at a time to make sure they are both nice and even.  Next up I need to get moving up the cable portion!

And I worked on my Texture Time Shawl.  I am still a long way from being close to finished this.  I am not even half way done yet, but I am still enjoying the knit!

I also cast on two new projects this week.  I know - I was on a WIP-it Down mission, but...

New cast on number 1 - the Advent 2018 Scarf.  I knit the initial ribbing and the daily clues began to appear yesterday.  I am working on Day 2 right now.  here is a picture of what it looked like at the end of Day 1:  (the markers will show the end of each daily clue)

New cast on number 2 - the Julenatt Mittens (a Mystery Mitten KAL by Skeindeer Knits).  The first clue for these came out on November 21st and the second clue came out yesterday.  I am still working on Clue #1 on mitten #1.  Here is what they look like now:

And finally I posted my newest podcast early this morning.

Over the next week I plan to try to keep up with my two new KALs.  I also have bought some fabric and I want to try to sew myself a couple of project bags!  Hopefully I will have those to show you next week!

Until then...

WIP-it Down Week Thanksgiving 2018 - Day 9

Back for another day!  Yesterday we had a yummy Thanksgiving meal and had a wonderful, lazy day.  Not a very colorful meal, but tasty!

I spent my spare time getting a goodly amount of knitting done on my Texture Time Shawl and made some decent progress.  I am still a long way from done, but am still happily knitting away at it.  Here is what I did yesterday (progress is from the blue marker):

This morning we have been out already and went to visit a friend who is in the hospital.  Hopefully she will be going home tomorrow!  The we went to Walmart and I stocked up on some fabric to try to sew myself a couple projects bags.  Here is the loot I bought:

I plan to work on the bags tomorrow.  This afternoon and evening I think I will either continue with my Texture Time Shawl or I will work on my Rowe Cardigan.  I am leaning towards my Shawl...  Check back tomorrow to see what I decided on!

WIP-it Down Week Thanksgiving 2018 - Day 8

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the United States who happen to be reading this today!  I plan to spend my day cooking (nothing too strenuous!), eating, and knitting!  Sounds like a good day to me!

Yesterday I worked on my Vanilla Christmas Socks and added ten more rounds to both feet.  Slowly making some progress!

And I cast on the Julenatt Mittens by Skeindeer Knits (her current mystery mitten pattern).  Clue #1 came out yesterday and I got a little bit done on that (only eight rounds on the first mitten).  This clue has us doing the cuff and I like the way it is looking!  Here is the little bit I have done (it is so small that I need to hold on to it to photograph the poor thing!):

Today I plan to work on my Texture Time Shawl.  I am hoping to finish Clue #3 on the first half of the shawl today - we shall see if I manage that!

Hubby and I are spending a quiet Thanksgiving Day together.  We got ourselves a small turkey (8 pounds) and I'll get that into the oven a bit later.  We also plan on having corn, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. It won't be very colorful, but it will be delicious!!

Until tomorrow my friends ♥

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 20

Hello and welcome to my latest Year of Projects update!  Week 20!!  Today also marks posting for each of the first 11 days in November so I am doing well in reaching my NaBloPoMo goal of posting each and every day in November!  This week has been relatively productive for me although I have only focused on two projects.

My Texture Time Shawl has seen quite a bit of love this past week.  I am now working on Clue #3 of the first half of the shawl and am about one third to one half done with the clue.  I am looking forward to completing the shawl and being able to wear it, but that is still quite a way off.  My progress this past week is from the blue marker:

And I made some progress on my Vanilla Christmas Socks too.  I added a couple inches and hope to soon be ready to begin the heel flaps.  My progress is from the blue marker:

My progress on NaKnitMo is going well too.  In order to hit my target of 50,000 stitches in the month of November I need to average 1,666.67 stitches per day.  At the end of Day 10 I should have knit a total of 16,666.7 stitches and I have actually knit 17,894 stitches so I am a bit ahead of schedule!  YAY!

I posted my latest podcast early this morning.  It is a bit rambling but I had fun talking to everyone about all sorts of upcoming plans I have!

I hope everyone has an amazing week!!

NaBloPoMo 2018 Day 9

Good morning and welcome to Day 9 of NaBloPoMo!!  Almost a third of the way through the month!!

I had a productive day yesterday with both work and knitting!  I had four one hour online educational sessions to watch/listen to and was able to happily knit away on my Texture Time Shawl throughout!  I made some decent progress on the shawl, although I still have a long way to go until it is complete!  I am done up to the end of row 58 of 154 on the first half of Clue #3.  Anyway. here is a picture of my progress yesterday (from the blue marker forward):

Today we are heading out to do some shopping and I will tell you all about it tomorrow.  We are hitting Hobby Lobby, Joann's, and Michaels.  We also plan to stop at two different Goodwill stores - one of which I have never been to so I am excited!  Wish me luck in finding all sorts of nicely priced treasures!!

I am keeping up the pace for meeting my NaKnitMo target!  So far in November I have knit a total of 17,016 stitches and I need 13,333.36 to be on track to completing 50,000 stitches in November.  So far so good!!

Until tomorrow - make it a great day!!

NaBloPoMo 2018 Day 8

Back for another day!  One week is done in NaBloPoMo already!!  I managed to get a bit of work done on both my Christmas socks and my Texture Time Shawl yesterday.

Texture Time sees another few rows done on Clue #3 (from the blue marker onwards):

And my Christmas socks saw some progress as well (from the pink marker onwards):

Texture Time has a total of five clues.  The first clue is the center back portion and clues 2 through 4 are done on each side of the center piece fanning out to either side.  Clue five is an optional edging which I suspect I will include.  I have completed clue one, have done clue two on one side, and am working on clue three on the same side.  I will complete clue four on the first side next and then I will go back and do clue two through four on the other side.  Then I will do the edging (clue five).  Hope this makes sense :)

Today I have several online educational sessions so I will be able to happily knit through those - four hours of knitting time!  YAY!!  Let's see how far I get through the remainder of clue three on the first side!

NaBloPoMo 2018 Day 7

Yesterday had me sitting through several hours of online seminars and allowed me plenty of time to knit! YAY for multitasking!!  I got a goodly bit of work done on my Texture Time Shawl and have a good start on the first half of Clue #3.  Here is my progress now:

Off to work for the day, but I will have some time this evening at our Wednesday evening service to do some work on my Christmas socks!

Until tomorrow...

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 18

Hello and welcome back for another week of the Year of Projects!!  I have had a busy week with both work and knitting!  I finished Clue #1 and have a finished object to show off!  And I am ready to cast on a new project (I can't wait...)

First up my finished object!  I finished my Sockhead Slouch Hat!!  It is huge and I love it!  I describe it more in my podcast which I will link below.  Here is a picture of me wearing it:

And I finished Clue #1 on the Texture Time Shawl!  All of the clues have been released now and I am slowly plugging along!  I also got a bit of a start on Clue #2.  Here is where I am at now and the little pink marker shows where I left off last week:

And I am casting on a pair of Christmas socks.  These will be vanilla socks and I am using one of the holiday color ways that I dyed up a little while back.  I will knit each cuff and then I plan to join them and work the remainder two at a time.  Here is my progress (hehe - I just cast these on earlier this morning before I posted this blog and only have two rounds done!):

And I have been continuing with Vlogtober!  I have posted a video every day throughout the month of October!  I have only four more videos to go (actually three - today's video is uploading to YouTube as I type this).  I have really enjoyed filming and posting something every day, but I will be happy for a more laid back schedule once November rolls around!  Wait - how is it already nearly November?!

And I posted Episode 7 of my podcast last night!  I am still loving doing the podcast and only wish I had started sooner.  Here is a link to this week's video where I show you my finished Sockhead Slouch Hat!

Take care everyone and I'll see you again soon!!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 17

Here we are back for another week!  I have managed to get a fair bit of knitting in this week even though I have been quite busy at work.

I only managed to add a few rounds on my Sockhead Slouch Hat.  I am beginning to think I may be getting closer to finished with this one!  My progress from last week is from the blue marker.

I made a great deal of progress on my Texture Time Shawl even though I am still working on Clue #1.  I am getting close to complete with this clue.  I really don't think I will finish this in October!  Oh well!  My progress is from the pink marker!

I released a new pattern on Ravelry - the first one in quite some time!  It is called Staggered Tracks and here is a picture of it:

And I have posted Episode 6 on my podcast!

Eighth Year of Projects - Week 16

Welcome to another weekly update!!  I hope you all have had an amazing week!  I have kept busy with knitting and work.  Here is what I did this past week:

One of these weeks I will finish the sleeves on my Rowe Cardigan!  This past week I did make a fair bit of progress, but still have a little ways to go.  I have finished the sleeve increasing and now am working on the shoulder cap decreases.  I think I have about 25 or 30 rows left to go and the sleeves are complete.  Maybe by next week??  My progress from last week is shown from the little green marker on the sleeve here:

And I made a little progress on my Sockhead Slouch Hat!  I have rolled the cake into a ball since it was getting pretty disheveled from being my travel project.  I have added maybe two more inches to the hat and hope to have this one done one of the days soon!  Here is my progress:

Spoiler Alert!!  I you are slower than me on the Texture Time Mystery Shaw do not continue to read because I will be posting a progress picture a bit lower down here.

And I finally cast on my Texture Time Mystery Shawl!  I got a start once and messed up so I frogged it.  Now I am still working on Clue #1 and Clue #2 was released a few days ago.  I suspect I won't catch up...  Oh well, I plan to continue and hope to finish Clue #1 before Clue #3 comes out!  Maybe I will even have some progress on Clue #2 before I show you next week.  I am thinking I may regret this cast on while I look at all the ends!!  We have been told we will deal with them later so I guess I have to be patient!  Here is where I am now (I am about 1/3 to 1/2 way done Clue #1):

And I have Episode 5 posted on my podcast!!

And I have been keeping up with Vlogtober and now have 13 posts!!  Check out my playlist!
