Seventh Year of Projects - Week 6

Another week with some nice progress made!!

First up - I finished my Tour-de-Sock Stage 2 socks in time!  The heel is loose on my foot, but I am very happy with the colourwork.  It is nice and even!!  This was not my first colourwork project and apparently practice helps (who would have thought?).  Here is the finished pair:

Then I got back to working on my Block a Month Knit project.  Each month a main and alternate square pattern are posted and by the end of the year you have an afghan.  I did not get around to making my July squares while it was still July, but at least I made some progress in early August!  I also hope to finish the August squares while it is still August.  Keep posted to see if I actually did manage that!

I finished the main July square and made some progress on the alternate July square as well.  Here is what I got done:

And then the Stage 3 sock pattern was released late Friday afternoon - so I had to cast on!!  I love the design!!  It is cables and lace.  I am using some of my own hand dyed yarn (again) and am enjoying the knit so far!  Here is my progress:

Until next week!!  I hope to have another finished pair of socks plus three knit squares - tune in next week to see if that is what I managed to accomplish!

  3. Your colorwork socks are so pretty. I can see where the heel might be a bit big, but no one will no other than you. You are doing well on your July squares. They are such a nice quick project to do. I am sure you will have them and August done in no time. I love your new sock! Cables and lace......the best of both worlds.

  5. Your stage 2 socks are great and what a good idea on the squares a month, you'd have a blanket before you'd know it. Love the look of the stage 3 sock.

  6. Wow Karen .. you're going like a house on fire!! I admire people who can knit socks - yours look great. Interesting patterns in those squares - it will be good to see the afghan at the end of the year.

  7. Beautiful color work! I have yet to attempt it but want to! Yours are simply stunning. I like the block per month idea...very doable or so it seems. Show your other blocks please. You are really making good use of your time/vacation. When does the school year start again for you? Enjoy and I love your hand dyed yarn!

  9. I love your squares - can't wait to see the finished blanket. I'm working (sort of) on a crocheted BAM blanket. I have no hopes whatsoever of finishing a whole blanket in a year, but I will keep at it until I do have a blanket. Your colorwork socks are just beautiful!
