WIP-it Wednesday (May 16th 2012)

Another WIP-it Wednesday update. I spent some of my free time this past week working on my niece's birthday afghan and I have made some more great progress!!  Last Wednesday I had four rows sewn together (7 squares per row), I had the next 7 squares partly compete (four rounds done on each), and I had the final 28 squares started (first two rounds complete).  Once I had all this put together I decided it was too small...  So I decided to add another two rows.  Now I have 9 rows all sewn together, 9 squares done up to four rounds complete and 5 squares done up to three rounds complete.  It shouldn't take too much longer to finish this up (although I did take a break for several days as my hands were getting sore fromt he marathon crocheting)!!  Here are a few pictures of what I got done this past week:
Nine rows all done!

Five squares done to the end of round 3 (four rounds to go)

Nine squares done to the end of round 4 (three rounds to go)

YOP Update (May 15th 2012)

I decided to cast on a Baktus scarf on Sunday and I must say I am very much enjoying making it!  I can't wait to see what it turns out like!  The first part was not as easy (for me at least), but once I got into the rhythm it moved along quite nicely!  I have three skeins for this one so I will see how big it is once one skein is knit up and then I will decide if I want to use all three skeins or just two.  If I use only two skeins I will have to make myself a pair of matching mittens :)  Here is a picture of what I knit up on Sunday:

WIP-it Wednesday (May 9th 2012)

Another WIP-it Wednesday update.  I spent most of my free time this past week working on my niece's birthday afghan and I have made great progress!! If I keep up at this pace I may have it complete in another week!!  Last Wednesday I had only just begun and had one square.  I did 12 squares and had them all sewn together.  I also had another 7 complete and realized on the 20th square that I was making a mistake that caused my squares to not lay flat.  SO I red the 8 that weren't sewn together adn put aside the 12 that had been sewn together.  And then I got back to making more squares.  I now have four rows sewn together (7 squares per row), I have the next 7 squares partly compete (four rounds done on each), and I have the final 28 squares started (first two rounds complete).  Here are a few pictures of what I got done this week:

Four rows complete
Row five - four rounds complete - three rounds left
The last 28 squares are started - two rounds complete

FO Friday (May 4th 2012)

Finally I have a finished object to report!!  It has been a while!  In the beginning of April I started doing a mystery sock over at the Solid Sock group on Ravelry.  It was so much fun to have a clue released each week.  That gave me a week to do up the clue before the next one was released and allowed me to finish the pair of socks in one month.  I did them two at a time on magic loop so I didn't have to worry about second sock syndrome.  The only trouble I had was that they came out too big.  Oh well...  I didn't read the instructions properly and ended up using the larger needle all the way instead of using the smaller needles on the foot.  Oops!  I also modified the cuff.  The design was for a pretty ruffled cuff but since my socks are always hidden under my pant legs (and because my socks were a bit loose on me).  I decided to do a 1x1 ribbing on the cuff instead.

The pattern is Cherry Littlebottom and here is a picture of my finished socks:

WIP-it Wednesday (May 2nd 2012)

Back for another WIP-it Wednesday report!  My focus project right now is an afghan I am making for my niece's 7th birthday.  Her favorite color is yellow and I have decided to make the Sunrise Sunset afghan.  So far I have one square complete.  I have a ways to go yet!!  Next week I will post an updat so check back then to see what I managed to accomplish this upcoming week!!  Here is a picture of my first square:

Two new projects

Today I am starting a new pair of socks.  These are a pair of mystery socks by Rose Hiver and is part of the Sock Knitters Anonymous group over on Ravelry.  I am excited to get going with these!!  There will be a new clue released each week during May and the first clue came out today.  Here is the yarn I am using:

My second new WIP is an afghan that I am making for one of my nieces for her birthday.  I made each of my four nieces on my hubby's side of the family an afghan for the 7th birthday and the fourth niece (Elizabeth) has her birthday coming up.  I started the Sunrise Sunset afghan for her yesterday and now have one square compete.  Now I am uncertain of making this pattern in these colors - is there enough contrast??  And the square is wavy...  Here is a picture of my one square:
