A Year of Projects - July 21st 2014

Update number one!!  I managed to make some progress on my Tour de Sock socks while I was away on vacation.  I did not finish my Stage 4 socks quickly enough to qualify for points, but I did get them finished!  I also managed to cast on my Stage 5 socks the day before the deadline but I got nowhere close to finishing them!  I am making good progress though.  The final stage (Stage 6) pattern was released on Saturday and I am ready to cast on today.  I hope to have them completed before the deadline of July 30th.  Time will tell!

My Tour de Sock Stage 4 socks are all done!!  This was a fun pattern and I enjoyed the knit!  It has beads into the pattern along the back of the leg, but my color choice was maybe not the best.  The beads are a fairly close match to the yarn color and do not show up too well...  Oh well :)
Tour de Sock Stage 4 complete!!
I also started my Tour de Sock Stage 5 socks!  I managed to get a decent amount done, but will put them aside so I can get moving on Stage 6.  I'll come back to these in a couple weeks.

My progress to date on Tour de Sock Stage 5.
And Tour de Sock Stage 6 began on Saturday.  It is toe-up double knit and I was suffering from jet lag so I plan to cast on later today!

This is my start for Tour de Sock Stage 6
I hope to have a fair bit of work done on my Stage 6 socks by next week!!

  1. Wow, that is a lot of sock knitting in a short amount of time. Good job on getting on them so quickly. I love the Stage 4 socks. The Stage 5 has a lovely pattern to them too. I like the pattern you have chosen for the afghan. It will be very colorful when completed, I am sure.

  3. Goodness, Tour de Sock sounds intense. How many socks in how many weeks? I knit pretty fast, but I don't think I could keep up either!

    1. There are six pair of socks in the Tour - each pair is given about ten days (give or take a few depending on the moderators and designer availability). This year it began on June 1st and ends on July 31st.

    1. Thanks :) I don't knit extra fast - just manage to put in a lot of hours to finish some of these socks. I do run out of steam as you can tell with my declining speed now...

  7. Yay, for socks! I like how you go for texture and visual interest. I didn't know Lion Brand had a sockyarn line. How is it?

    1. The Sock-Ease is nice to work with. It is a bit on the thin side. I have not worn the socks yet so I have no comments on the wear-ability and care. They did feel nice when I tried a different pair I made with this yarn. I'll get to test them once it gets colder out!
